Tamil actor Surya Sivakumar, who has starred in films such as Nandha (2001), Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Pithamagan (2004), Perazhagan (2005), Ghajini (2005), Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) and Ayan (2009), is back with Singam. will have Tollywood beauty Anushka Shetty in the female lead opposite Surya.Film's story revolves around smuggling activities taking place in Rameshwaram. she made her debut in Tamil Cinema with Madhavan's Rendu.Surya will be seen in the role of a tough and daring cop Duraisingam.Tamil superstar Vijay was first announced as the lead actor for Singam but later film's director Hari decided to go with Surya when he got the movie registered, creating controversy. After starring in successful films like Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan, Surya is teaming up with Hari to don a police officer for his 25th film. Devi Sri Prasad has done the music for Singam.The film is being produced by Gnanavelraja under the banner Studio Green and BIG Pictures. Studio Green has earlier made Sillunnu Oru Kaadhal and Paruthiveeran.The audio of the film was released on May 11, 2010.Director Hari is known for his action films.Expectations are very high as Surya plays a cop after the hit film Khaaka Khaaka. Singam also stars Prakash Raj and Vivek.Singam will be released on 28 May 2010.Surya is all set to make his Bollywood debut in Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra that is scheduled for a 2010 release.Anushka Shetty won the critically acclaimed Nandi Award for her role as Jejamma in the 2009 release Arundati.Hari has directed hit films like Saamy, Thamirabharani, Vel and Ayya. Singam is his 10th film.Hari is one of the most successful directors in Tamil cinema.
